Scope of assistance
Free legal aid may include a preliminary review of the issue, basic procedural
guidance, identification of immediate legal options, and direction on the forum or
authority that may need to be approached. Whether the matter proceeds beyond an
initial consultation depends on the facts, available documents, urgency, and the
overall capacity of the practice.
Matters that may be prioritized
Requests involving women’s safety, domestic or family disputes, maintenance, labour
and employment hardship, senior citizen concerns, urgent criminal procedure issues,
and financially constrained litigants may receive priority consideration. Each request
is assessed on its own merits, and contacting the office does not automatically create
a lawyer-client relationship.
What to share
To help with a meaningful review, share a short summary of the dispute, names of the
parties involved, important dates, copies of notices or orders if any, and the next
deadline you are facing. Relevant identity and supporting documents should be kept
ready so the matter can be assessed efficiently.
